Three bohemian bands and a world-famous clown came together June 2 at the UC Theatre in Berkeley, California, for a benefit for the Seva Foundation, a global health organization with a core vision of “A world free of blindness.” Emceed by Seva co-founder Wavy Gravy, who remains on its board of directors, Rising Appalachia, Dead Winter Carpenters, and The Sam Chase & the Untraditional marked Seva’s 40th anniversary by visibly invigorating the swaying, dancing crowd.
One day, the deep and noble abyss, with whom Blue has spent decades cultivating a relationship, started staring back at her. She kept seeing flashes of a white buffalo on the hills, but did not understand. The Asheville-based soulful Folk/World troubadours Rising Appalachia have just added an impromptu performance date on their month-long Big Skies September tour. The date, to take place at The Aggie Theater in Ft. Collins on September 22nd, is a welcoming event intended to introduce the new owners of the venue to the local community.
The soulful sisters of Rising Appalachia and their band have announced the Wider Circles Rail Tour in celebration of their forthcoming album release Wider Circles, due out on April 21st. The tour kicks off in New Orleans and winds its way by train throughout the Southwest with stops in New Mexico, Arizona, and Texas (see full schedule below).
